Our story
Art made from what people tell us
Artinscale began on Corfu, where our founder grew up as the third generation in a family of artists. Exhibitions were a normal part of the household, and so was the argument about what makes a piece worth hanging. That question is still the one we work on, now from Amsterdam.
We make prints from what people send us. A topic opens, anyone can contribute a memory, a photograph, a recording or a link, and an artist reads all of it before making a single piece in response. Held Breath came out of thirty-three contributions about stillness, from a nurse in Zurich to a flute player in the Atacama. The stories stay published beside the work, so you can read what it came from.
Not everything starts as a story. Emil Varga writes small deterministic drawing systems in code, keeps roughly one seed in a hundred, and lets the rest go. Other artists work in ink and watercolour. What they share is that each piece is made deliberately and sold in a size we think it deserves, rather than in whatever range a printer offers.
Everything is printed to order on 250 gsm archival paper with a natural matte finish, on FSC-certified stock. Nothing sits in a warehouse. We ship to 43 countries with free delivery, and you have 30 days to send a print back if it is not right on your wall.
